In class we focus on practicing the “instinctive” shooting style with several different bows, and under different conditions (standing, walking, kneeling, and running), varying distances, and alternating targets (stationary, moving/roaming, clout / fixed target, swinging target, etc.).

Horse Archery Program
No previous riding or archery experience is necessary to start Horse Archery; however, students who are not already experienced riders have to sign up in the regular riding program as well. The horse archery classes are not a “learn how to ride” opportunity; however, the students will learn the equestrian aspects particular to horse archery. Students will use their own archery equipment, but we can provide loaner equipment in the beginning.

Additional Resources: Ten-Step Progress Development Program
The Ten-Step Progress Development Program for Archers has been written as a systematic development guideline for traditional archery. Each level is designed so that the archers will develop progressively at their own rate. Throughout the different levels, special attention is given to various techniques, different drawing, aiming, and release styles, types of targets, achievements, accuracy, theory, and the overall physical and mental development of the individual archer.
Of utmost concern is the safety of all participants, therefore anyone not adhering to the instructions and safety rules will have to leave the class and range. |
Please download your free copy of the “Ten-Step Progress Development Program for Archers”, print it out, and bring it with you to your classes. This will be the record of your progress.
